I Climb To Forget

From the ashes of perdition
To the summit of hope
I have found the path to redemption
Where I no longer climb to forget

From the blackened grate of my soul
I’ve raked the embers of my heart
To find a kindling of warmth
Within my unforgiving soul

From the cutting edge of oblivion
To the mire of disillusion
Through the mist of broken dreams
I see the spectre of my past

Standing on the summit
Free from a broken dream
The rope is cast away
I no longer climb to forget
